Design of an indoor picking platform built around an existing eddy current separator. The project included a new adjustable discharge hood, a manual picking line and three steel-lined collection bays for the separated material streams.

Improved Separation Process
The existing eddy current separator needed a new discharge arrangement that could be adjusted as the mixed-aluminium feed changed.
A manual picking line was required to remove trapped wire, lingering contaminants, heavy cast or wrought pieces and residual non-metallics left after separation.

Simplicity |& Flexibility
ATLUS designed a new discharge hood around the existing ECS. Its internal diverter plate was designed with maximum adjustability to suit different feedstock.
The platform steelwork was made up of similar welded assembliess to facilitate easy manufacture, transportation and installation.

Three Defined Material Streams
The bay closest to the ECS receives non-metallic waste. The centre bay serves the manual picking line, while the third collects the shredded aluminium.
Material removed at the picking line is discharged into the centre bay, keeping residual contaminants and selected heavy pieces separate from the aluminium product.
