Cone Blender

ATLUS designed a guarded cone blender for the batch mixing of dry powders. The vessel repeatedly turns and redistributes the material, promoting a consistent blend without a high-shear agitator. The complete machine incorporates the blending vessel, geared drive, bearing supports, discharge arrangement, structural frame and perimeter guarding.

Project at a glance

  • Repeatable Batching

    • The machine was required to combine dry powder ingredients into a consistent batch using a controlled, low-shear mixing action.

    • Loading, rotation and discharge needed to be incorporated into a compact machine that could be operated and maintained safely.

  • A Complete Machine

    • ATLUS developed the vessel, support shafts, bearings, drive system and structural frame around the intended batch mass.

    • The discharge position was coordinated beneath the vessel, while full-height mesh guarding isolated the rotating equipment from the surrounding work area.

  • Controlled Mixing

    • The completed arrangement provides gentle tumbling of the powder followed by gravity discharge from the vessel into the receiving point below.

    • Gated access allows the blender and drive to be reached for loading, cleaning and maintenance once the machine has been stopped and isolated.

Key Outcomes

  • Blue checkmark inside a blue circle, symbolizing approval or verification.

Controlled, low shear mixing of dry powder batches

  • ≤5% blend coefficient of variation after a 10 minute mixing cycle

  • ≥99% batch discharge within 5 minutes for free-flowing powders

  • A white circular icon with a blue outline and a blue check mark inside.

Rotating assembly can be fully disassembled for service
